Our Board of Directors

Lou Berman - President

  • //

Louie’s Voice was created in 2012 by Lou Berman, a single father to an autistic child. It was named after his son “Louie.” This organization was formed to benefit the lives of people affected by Autism. “Autism doesn’t just affect the individual… it affects the entire family, “ says Berman, who has sought out psychiatric, educational, emotional and financial support for his son Louie.

In 2005 Lou relocated to Houston hoping to give his family a fresh start after his wife and he had separated. It was at this time in early 2005 Lou Berman started on the journey of seeking help for his son. Being faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles facing his son Louie, Louie’s voice is another milestone in that journey.

“Through my hardships, I have been able to amass some resources that I think would help others that are faced with similar circumstances. To solve my problems and help my son, I had to become an “amateur expert” in areas like child support, school districts, medical, legal, prescriptions, rights for people with special needs, etc. I have been fortunate to build relationships and endear the help of various professionals. But it wasn’t handed to me.

The help I received was from what I sought. What is really rewarding now is that I get to help other families get the services they need. I get to make a difference… I get to give back.” says Berman.
